ipad heaven

Oh wow I am in ipad heaven, I love it!  My mum does too but not for the reason you will think, you'll laugh.  I can't sleep at night and usually mum or dad end up staying up all night to keep me company but last night I had my ipad to play with.  I watched a film on it and then I played games on it and then I checked my twitter on it, and then I played with the camera thing that makes your face look all weird lol. My nan bought me a itunes voucher so I'm going to buy some more games and films with it. Any ipad app suggestions you think I should try?
My mum is trying to protect some of my photos for me and then we'll put a few up on here because I really want to share some of them with you, especially my dad in a pink hummer lol.
I have a really huge thing happening on Friday and I'm so excited about it.  I'm going to the Emma Bridgewater factory to design my mug and I can't wait.  I have my idea and I'll have to see if they like it and if it will work on a mug.  My mum is dead funny because she said, right that's everyones xmas pressie got lol.  I don't think she's joking.
On a serious note, some sick person has managed to hack into the Post Pals site again, only this time they're changing the pages and content.  Sadly, the site has had to be taken offline for a bit while they sort this.  Would you please follow 'Post Pals' securely on facebook and use the secure donation link to the left to donate directly (without going near the Post Pal site).  I can't believe anyone would want to take from such poorly innocent children, please don't let them win.

  8. Pyramids HD is a pretty fun game to play. Very addictive! Also Yelp is great for the pure utility of it. You can find just about anything your looking for whether it be a restaurant or a store. Just tell it what your looking for and it will find it and even give you directions! Also Angry birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio... Time wasters and very addicting as well.

  9. Hey Alice. i just got my iPad last week, so i am in iPad heaven too :) so far my favorite apps are IM+ for all the instant messaging with firends and EchoPhone for twitter, it is much nicer then the default twitter client in my thinking. Also, Shazam is an AWESOME app. it lets you figure out what song you are hearing, like on a radio, and then you can tag it or buy it from itunes or just know what it is and who sings it.

  10. Hello again Alice!

Glad you are having such fun with your new Ipad. I will probably never get one. I drop my cell phone ALL of the time so there is NO way I could handle something that is even more expensive than my poor cell phone.

Also, poo on the hackers! What a bunch of awful jerks!

    Much love from SC, USA

Just wanted to say I love your blog, and let you know that me and my husband are going to register with Anthony Nolan, and if we have any more babies, will donate umbilical cord too. Will hopefully get a few more people signed up too! Thanks for making me aware.

  14. Hi Alice! I am so glad you like your iPad! They look amazing! I have a iPod touch and love to play Angry Birds and Scrabble. I think Scrabble is a bit different in the UK than in the US, but it's probably just as much fun! I hope you have great time designing your mug and I hope I will be able to buy one.

  15. Hello Alice,

The iPad sounds like a lot of fun. Family Feud is a really fun game that I've played at work with the office iPad, and I think it's a free app.

I'm really sorry to hear that the Post Pals keeps getting hacked. The people who are doing it must be incredibly sad and lonely people if they resort to stealing from children who need it. But focus on all the good things happening right now in your life, like designing your mug!

    Good luck with everything.

  24. Hi Alice,
I came across your story one day on MSNBC, you go girl.
So happy for you and your fun times you've been having. Wow - swimming w/sharks, amazing. I will continue to lift you up in prayer along w/my prayer warriors. My sister-in-law lost her battle w/ALL on Christmas Eve, she fought a tough battle (chemo and bone marrow). Much of my family is on the Bone Marrow Registery, it's dear to our hearts loosing a family member to cancer. Stay strong, laugh alot and keep God close to your heart. Blessings,

  34. Alice, you are AMAZING!!!!
I don't know if there's anything I could ever do to help you achieve some of your dreams, but if you can think of anything that may be in the Wigan / St Helens / Manchester areas, please let me know - it'll be an honour to help.
My mum was one of the lucky ones, who didn't need a bone marrow transplant - all the work you're doing for the Anthony Nolan and Cancer Research is truly inspiring - I'm hoping to raise £100 through Race for Life, which is just a drop I'm the ocean compared to what you and Milly raised!!! As well as my mum, I'll run Race for Life for you!

Ap wise - obvious, but Angry Birds is highly addictive!!

Wish you, your family and friends all the best.

They aren't scary at all when you get in there with them - more beautiful if anything... I gave blood yesterday and am signing up - I have a massive bruise, but well worth it!

Please give Mabel a cuddle for me - I'm a vet student and she reminds me of one of my patients!

  54. Hi Alice,
I'm not usually one to comment, but I felt the need too. I read an article on CNN.com that told the story of your blog and bucketlist.
I hope you are able to experience most if not all the things from your list. I was paralyzed in a car accident years ago and live life in a wheelchair. I mention this because sometimes it's easy to let life's complications bring you down and forget how wonderful and precious it is. I wanted to thank you for sharing through your blog and the inspiration you give. The attention your bringing to the need for bone marrow testing will save lives. You have a sweet spirit and a great attitude. You and your family are in my prayers.

  55. Hi Alice! I'm Teresa and I live in the States in North Carolina. I'm a country girl ;) I'm 48 years old, I'm married and my husband and I have 2 grown children and 2 dogs. I just wanted you to know that most of my adult life I've thought about registering as a bone marrow doner but never have; I don't know why. I do donate blood on a regular basis but that's way different, I know. So anywho.....after coming across your blog I've decided I'm going to do it!! I've got a couple big commitments that have me tied up through the end of next week, but in the mean time I'm going to be working on finding out exactly what I need to do. And I'm gonna do it in your honor!! And when I do, I'm gonna come back and let you know I did it. Hopefully I can make a little girl that I never met proud. Sounds kind of silly for a 48 year old woman huh? But I'm not a kook like some of those your mom was talking about below; man that sucks big time. Feel free to check out my FB page (teresa vincent sullivan) but I'll have to friend you first. Oh and hope you don't mind but I'm gonna link your blog on my FB page so hopefully I can generate some more donors. Who knows what all of us working together can do, right?!!

Take care Alice and I'm looking forward to seeing those pics of your dad in a pink hummer. How funny is that gonna be?!?! ;)

I can't wait to see your Emma Bridgewater mug - I've been thinking about buying one for ages but couldn't justify the cost, but if you design it then it's guilt free shopping, right? I've been reading from over here in Alabama, USA. I'm so happy that you're getting your bucket list checked off! I don't think most people actually have the courage to "go for it". I'm so proud of you. (gosh, I'm sure I sound like your mom and I don't even "know" you! tee-hee) I've trying to convince my husband that I need an ipad to help me with my job. I'm not sure he's going for it! ha. Have fun with yours!

  108. I love Instagram - I don't know if it works on iPad but it's brilliant - it's a camera app which makes the photos all vintage and old fashioned looking. I hope you have a great time at Emma Bridgewater as well, I can't wait to see what design you make!

    Love,

  116. Alice! Soooo jealous of the iPad! :D Sounds like you are having a blast! I'm obsessed with my iPhone! If you have a netflix account or even if you get one for streaming only, the netflix app is WONDERFUL! Thousands of movies at your fingertips for only a set price each week! I love it but its a bit tiny on my little iPhone! Also, I love games like Diner Dash or Cake Mania! They will keep you busy for hours! ENJOY!

  129. Hi Alice,

I use an iPad app called Ambiance to help me sleep at night. You download sound files through the app, which you can play alone or mix. I just leave it on all night for some background noise. It's gotten so that just hearing my favorite sounds makes me feel sleepy.

I think it's $2.99 for the app, but the sounds are all free (except for a few "premium" sounds). It's a lot of fun to go through all of the sounds and read the descriptions...out loud, dramatically, while the sound plays. My husband and I like to go through the sound store, and have the other person guess what the sound is, which is often almost impossible to do for some reason.

My favorites for sleeping are "ventilation shaft" and one that is just the sound of a clothes dryer. I'm not sure if you'll find this funny, but there is a sound called "sobbing man" that cracks me up. I also like the sound of a cat purring, even though I don't really like cats.

Say hello to your sweet mother from me. I just found your blog, so I haven't read much, but when I saw that post by her to the trolls leaving comments, I wanted to fly over there and give her a hug. Reminds me of my mom.
